Savory, Winter - Satureja montana

Semi to fully evergreen perennial has aromatic green leaves. White to pale lilac flowers bloom in summer. Grows 6-15" tall.

USES: Add fresh or dried leaves to beans, sausage or meatloaf.
CARE: Well drained soil in full sun.
HARDINESS: Perennial. Zones 5-8.
Society Garlic - Tulbaghia violacea

Narrow blue green leaves to 12". Rosy flowers on 18" stems all spring and summer. Crushed stems and leaves have a garlicy onion scent and flavor.

USES: Leaves can be used instead of garlic or chives in recipies. Mild garlic flavor. Edible flowers.
CARE: Average well drained soil in full sun. Keep evenly moist.
HARDINESS: Tender perennial. Zones 7-11.
Sorrel, French - Rumex acetosa

Large succulent leaves have a tangy lemon flavor and are rich in vitamin C. Grows 18" tall.

USES: New tender leaves used to make sorrel soup, in salads and omelettes, and with meats, fish and poultry.
CARE: Sun to partial shade in average garden soil.
HARDINESS: Perennial. Zones 4-8.
Spearmint, Kentucky Colonel - Mentha spicata 'Kentucky Colonel'

Improved spearmint with a clean sweet flavor and robust growth habit. 24" tall.

USES: Add to cookies, tea, jellies, beef, lamb, peas or corn. Great for mint juleps. Attracts butterflies.
CARE: Partial shade preferred. Moist average garden soil. Aggressive spreading plants - plant in a container to control invasive quality.
HARDINESS: Perennial. Zones 5-9.
