Lavender, English - Lavandula angustilolia
Fragrant, fine cut, gray green foliage. Spikes of fragrant purple flowers in summer. Grows 2-3 feet tall.
USES: Perennial herb gardens, potpourri, saches. Flowers are added to jams, ice cream, and crystallized for decorating desserts. Attracts butterflies.
CARE: Plant in a sunny area in loose, well drained soil.

Soft gray indented foliage. Light purple flowers all summer. Grows to 3 feet tall.

USES: Franrance, ornamental poppourri. Attracts butterflies.

Lavender, Hidcote - Lavandula angustifolia 'Hidcote'

Lavender, Munstead - Lavandula angustifolia 'Munstead'
Fragrant, silvery green foliage. Spikes of fragrant lavender blue flowers in summer. Compact, to 12" tall.

Lavender, Provence - Lavandula x intermedia 'Provence'
Fragrant blue flowers on 2-3 foot stems in summer. This variety is preferred by commercial growers in the Provence region of France. Considered more rot resistant than standard English Lavender.
USES: Scahes, soaps, perfumes and potpourri. Flowers are added to jams, ice cream and crystallized for decorating desserts. Attracts butterflies.

Lovage - Levisticum officinate

Very large growing herb that makes a strongly flavored celery substitute. Grows to 6 feet tall.

USES: Leaves are added to stews, soups and cassersoles. Stems are candied and seeds are added to bread and cheese crackers.
CARE: Average garden soil in sun to partial shade.
HARDINESS: Perennial. Zones 5-8.
